A native of Michigan, Anthony Randazzo received his early dance training from his mother Marjorie Randazzo. At age fourteen he began training at the National Ballet School in Toronto under the direction of its founder Betty Oliphant. Anthony joined the National Ballet of Canada and worked under Alexander Grant and Erik Bruhn. He then danced for ten years at San Francisco Ballet under the leadership of Helgi Tomasson. He returned to perform with the National Ballet of Canada during the artistic directorship of James Kudelka. During his eighteen year performing career, Randazzo achieved the rank of Principal Dancer, dancing works by Marius Petipa, August Bournonville, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Frederick Ashton, Kenneth MacMillan, John Cranko, William Forsythe, Juri Kylian, Paul Taylor, John Neumeier, Hans van Manen and Rudi van Dantzig. Randazzo also danced original creations by Helgi Tomasson, James Kudelka, David Bintley, Mark Morris, Val Caniparoli, Glen Tetley and Constantin Patsalas.
After retiring from the stage Randazzo returned home to teach at his mother Marjorie's school. By the invitation of Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen, he became Ballet Master at Boston Ballet in 2002. Randazzo coaches, rehearses and teaches company class. He is involved in the preparation of all full length productions performed by the company. He assists guest stagers with the setting of new or existing choreography and is responsible for teaching and rehearsing many one act ballets presented by the company. Randazzo works with Boston Ballet’s resident choreographer Jorma Elo assisting with numerous premieres and revivals. He has staged works for Cincinnati Ballet and the Slovak National Theatre. He works closely with Boston Ballet II and has guest taught in Boston Ballet School. Randazzo is an Honorary Member of Cecchetti International - Classical Ballet.
