Avetik Karapetyan graduated from Erevan National Ballet Academy of Armenia in 2003 under the direction of Hovannes Divanyan. He was then invited to study at the Heinz Bosl Ballet Academy of Munich where he trained with Alexander Prokofiev. Upon graduating in 2005, he worked in Staatsoper,Vienna for a year, before dancing with the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm, Sweden.
Karapetyan has received many awards throughout his career, including semi-finalist in the July 2003 Prix de Lausanne, bronze medal in the April 2004 Sergey Lifar Ballet Competition in Kiev, Ukraine, final diplom in the May 2005 Helsinki Competition, final diplom in the July 2006 Jackson International Competition, second place in the July 2007 Orlando Ballet Competition, second place in the June 2009 Helsinki Ballet Competition, first place in the July 2009 Rome Primo Ballet Competition, first place in the June 2012 International Istanbul Ballet Competition, bronze medal in the July 2012 Varna Ballet Competition; and second place in the July 2011 Beijing Ballet Competition.
Karapetyan has performed a variety of works, including Swan Lake (Jester andSiegfried), Le Corsaire (Berbando and Ali), Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio), Don Quixote (Basilo), and The Sleeping Beauty (Dezire).
