Bo Busby began his ballet training at age four with Ann Brodie of Calvert-Brodie Studios in Columbia, South Carolina and later studied on full scholarship at The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida. Busby was awarded “Best Male Dancer” at the 2000 Youth American Grand Prix and received the Grand Prix at the 2001 Youth American Grand Prix.
Busby has attended summer programs at The Harid Conservatory, the School of American Ballet, and Houston Ballet School. In 2000 he was accepted into the Stuttgart Academy in Stuttgart, Germany, where he studied under Pytor Pestov and performed a pas de deux from John Cranko’s Onegin and appeared in the Stuttgart Ballet’s production of The Sleeping Beauty featuring Vladimir Malakhov and Lucia Lacarra. Busby joined the ABT Studio Company in 2001, American Ballet Theatre in 2002, and Boston Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 2006. Busby was promoted to second soloist in 2011.
His repertoire includes full-length story ballets such as John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet, James Kudelka’s Cinderella, as well as world premiere works including Helen Pickett’s Eventide and Jorma Elo’s In On Blue and Le Sacre du Printemps.
