Brett Fukuda of Washington, DC began her training with Lisa Danias, and went on to attend the School of American Ballet. In 2008, she enrolled in the Kirov Academy of Ballet on scholarship under the direction of Marat Daukayev. The following year she attended the San Francisco Ballet School on the Eric Hellman Memorial Scholarship, and went onto join the San Francisco Ballet Trainee Program under the direction of Patrick Armand, and Lola de Avila.
During her four years at SAB, she performed in numerous student roles with New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center in New York City and the Kennedy Center inWashington, DC. As a San Francisco Ballet Trainee she performed in San Francisco, as well as abroad in Tokyo, Japan in the Ballet Asteras Gala and in Cannes, France in the EcoleSupérieure de Danse de Cannes 50th anniversary celebration.She toured and performed in many productions with the San Francisco Ballet under the direction of Helgi Tomasson. These works include Helgi Tomasson’s Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo & Juliet, Giselle, Don Quixote, and George Balanchine’s Symphony in C and Coppélia.
