Joined Boston Ballet in 2011
Diana Albrecht from Asuncion, Paraguay joined Boston Ballet in 2011. She previously trained at Studio Nicole Dijkhuis and Centro de Danca Rio in Rio de Janeiro- Brazil. She went on to train at San Francisco Ballet School and The Washington School of Ballet under on scholarship. Prior to joining Boston Ballet, Albrecht danced with Companhia Jovem de Ballet do Rio de Janeiro under the direction of Dalal Achcar, and with The Washington Ballet.
She is recipient of the National Award of Dance, and was classified as top 12 at the Youth America Grand Prix in 2005. In 2008, Albrecht was nominated as one of 25 to Watch by Dance Magazine.
Albrecht has performed leading roles in George Balanchine's The Four Temperaments, Rubies, Who Cares? and Serenade, Christopher Wheeldon's There Where She Loved, Mark Morris's Drink to me only with thine eyes and Pacific, Twyla Tharp's Baker's Dozen and Push Comes to Shove, Edward Liang's Wunderland and As above so below, Christopher Bruce's Rooster (Rooster girl and Not Fade Away Pas), Anna Marie Homes' Le Corsaire (Odalisque) and Don Quixote (Queen of Dryads), Septime Webre's The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy and Dew Drop Fairy), among others. Her Boston Ballet repertoire includes George Balanchine's Symphony in 3 Movements, Mikko Nissinen's The Nutcracker (Dew Drop Fairy), Herald Lander's Études, John Cranko's Romeo and Juliet, Jorma Elo's Awake Only, Rudolf Nureyev's Don Quixote (Kitri's Friends), and Florence Clerc's Les Sylphides, among others.
