OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM ONSTAGE AT THE BOSTON OPERA HOUSE ALONGSIDE THE ARTISTS OF BOSTON BALLET!
What is a Supernumerary?
Supernumeraries, known as “supers,” are the extras of the ballet world. Unless otherwise noted, all supers are cast in walk-on, non-dancing roles and are unpaid volunteers. Theatre and/or dance experience are helpful, but not required.
Supers must be available for all rehearsals and all performances for which they are cast. Rehearsals and performances take place primarily on nights and weekends, with a commitment of approximately four 1-hour rehearsals in the studio, three 4-hour technical/dress rehearsals in the theatre, and ten performances per production. Rehearsal requirements and schedules will vary dependant upon the complexity of the production and of the role assigned.
Please see below for a list of upcoming supernumerary opportunities, including height and size requirements as dictated by the costumes.
