        Arthur Leeth

        Arthur Leeth

        Music Administrator/Chief Librarian

Born in Springfield, Illinois, Arthur Leeth has been affiliated with Boston Ballet since 1976. He attended Butler University in Indiana, where he began his dance training under George Verdak and majored in music and dance. Arthur now serves as Assistant to Music Director Jonathan McPhee and as Boston Ballet’s Music Librarian and orchestra personnel manager

After three years at the American Ballet Theatre School in New York City, Mr. Leeth came to Boston Ballet as an apprentice in 1976. The following year he became a member of the Company. He danced leading roles in a variety of classical and contemporary ballets, including Concerto Barocco, Fall River Legend, Fanfare, Four Temperaments, Giselle, Lilac Garden, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Serenade, and Swan Lake.

In 1980 Leeth staged and danced Sleeping Beauty for the Ballet Clasico de Santo Domingo. He also has made guest appearances with a number of U.S. ballet companies, performing in Don Quixote, Le Corsaire and Les Sylphides.

Since his official retirement from the stage in 1987, Leeth has continued to perform character roles in Boston Ballet's productions of La Sylphide, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Lilac Garden, Scheherazade, and La Sonnambula. He has also taught at the Boston Conservatory of Music, Boston Ballet School, Harvard University and Boston Ballet's South End Community Dance Project outreach program. Arthur is also Director of Artistic Operations for Burklyn Ballet Theatre; a summer dance program in Vermont. Arthur is also ballet master for Burklyn Youth Ballet in their summer performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
