Originally from Amherst, New Hampshire, Melissa Reed began her early training at Bedford Dance Center and continued at Southern NH Dance Theater. In 2007, at age 16, she was invited to attend the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida on full-tuition scholarship, where she studied with Svetlana Osiyeva, Victoria Schneider, and Olivier Pardina. Since graduating in 2009, Melissa has received additional training and performing experience at North Carolina Dance Theatre, Richmond Ballet, and Eglevsky Ballet.
Reed has performed featured in roles in classical ballets such as Paquita, Giselle, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker, in addition to contemporary ballets by Mark Diamond, Salvatore Aiello, and Josée Garant. Her repertoire also includes roles in numerous Balanchine ballets, specifically Allegro Brillante, Who Cares?, Serenade, Raymonda Variations, Valse Fantaisie, Danses Concertantes, Divertimento No. 15, and Brahms-Schoenberg Quartet.
She has spent summers at the Harid Conservatory, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Chautauqua Institution, and Richmond Ballet.
Reed is also currently a Corps de Ballet member at The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, based at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
