Sarah Slifer Swift is a dance artist and educator based in Gloucester, Massachusetts. She attended George Washington University on a performing arts scholarship where she studied modern dance, improvisation, composition, and ballet, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy of science and a minor in dance.
As a performer, she has danced with Maida Withers Dance Construction Company, Vincent Cacialano, Caitlin Corbett, Jose Mateo Ballet Theater, and with several freelance choreographers in contemporary dance and performance art. Slifer Swift has received recognition for her choreography including a 2010 Massachusetts Cultural Council Choreography Fellowship and a 2008 Saint Botolph Emerging Artist Award. She also founded and directed the Gloucester New Arts Festival, a festival for site-specific performance and art works which ran from 2005 to 2010.
She has been on the faculty of George Washington University, Amsterdam College of Art (Netherlands), and Dance Base (Scotland), and currently also teaches at Salem State University and Liza Indiciani School of Dance.
